June 16, 2026 - Toronto - Ecopia AI (Ecopia) announces the delivery of a statewide database of more than 1.9M high-precision building footprints and 2.5M+ geocoded address points to the State of Mississippi for voting and electoral operations, emergency preparedness and response, infrastructure planning, and other analytics requiring a source of truth for physical address locations.

By anchoring address data to building footprints, the data can be used to prevent errors in voter district assignment, streamline polling place verification, enhance 911 dispatch accuracy, improve disaster preparedness and recovery, and create a reliable foundation for infrastructure development, zoning, and asset management. All state and local agencies in Mississippi can access this comprehensive dataset, eliminating duplicative expenditures and establishing a statewide source of truth for both day-to-day operations and long-term strategic planning.

This authoritative database delivers unmatched currency, accuracy, and completeness to ensure every residential, commercial, and governmental address is precisely linked to the correct physical structure. Ecopia’s unique building-based approach to geocoding sets this database apart from other address data on the market, which assigns address point locations to street segments or parcel centroids with an average accuracy of 58%. In contrast, Ecopia is able to achieve 97% accuracy by leveraging AI-driven mapping systems to extract building footprints directly from high-resolution imagery before appending them with primary and secondary geocoded address points.

Deriving the foundational building footprints from geospatial imagery enables the database to be updated efficiently to reflect real-world change; through this data acquisition, the State will receive multiple data updates a year to prevent decision-making with stale and inaccurate information.

The data for Mississippi is part of Ecopia’s nationwide Building-Based Geocoding database, which provides more than 178M+ building footprints and 270M+ primary and secondary address points to government organizations, insurance carriers, civil engineering firms, and telecommunications companies. This data constitutes the first and only complete map of buildings in the United States and includes critical attribution related to property parcels, flood risk, and change detection. Ecopia data is also appended with a system of unique identifiers denoting property relationships for master data management.

Founded in 2013, Ecopia has over a decade of experience providing state governments with innovative, AI-powered geospatial solutions. States leveraging Ecopia data include Washington, North Carolina, Connecticut, Alaska, and Illinois, among others.

“Large-scale mapping remains a challenge for many organizations, especially at a statewide level,” said Thomas Peck, Senior Associate at Ecopia. “This collaboration is a great example of how GeoAI is empowering state governments with the efficiency and accuracy needed to create and maintain a geospatial source of truth for analytics and decision-making.”
